What I offer

From first appointment to lasting recovery

Four areas of care, each shaped by what your assessment shows, never a fixed protocol.

Find the source

Every session begins with a thorough physical assessment: movement testing, orthopaedic and neurological screening, and clinical reasoning. No guesswork. Treatment is built directly around what the assessment finds, not a standard protocol.

Relieve the pain

Hands-on techniques (joint mobilisation, soft tissue work, and neurodynamic mobilisation) help calm sensitised tissue responses and restore comfortable movement. Research indicates manual therapy works largely through the nervous system, which is why it can help even long-standing problems that haven't responded to rest.

Rebuild strength and function

Lasting recovery usually takes more than table work. Progressive loading programmes (a well-evidenced approach for tendons and persistent pain) help rebuild the capacity your body needs to stay recovered, not just feel better temporarily.

Understand your pain

For persistent complaints, understanding what is driving your symptoms, and what you can do to influence it, can improve outcomes alongside hands-on work. Less fear, more control, more confident movement. Pain neuroscience education is part of the treatment, not an add-on.

Not sure where to start? Your first session includes a full assessment, and we agree on the best approach together.

Clinical assessment

Your first session begins with a focused case history and physical examination, including orthopaedic and neurological screening where relevant.

Hands-on treatment

Treatment follows directly from what the assessment shows: soft tissue work, joint mobilisation, neurodynamic mobilisation, and targeted movement advice, all tailored to you, not a standard protocol.

Clear plan, ongoing support

You leave knowing what is going on and what to do next. Follow-up sessions review progress and adjust the approach as you improve.

Common questions

Questions people ask before booking

Yes. Manual therapy has a substantial and growing evidence base. NICE recommends it alongside exercise for persistent low back pain, and it is widely used for neck pain, shoulder problems, hip and knee osteoarthritis, cervicogenic headache, and tendinopathies. Research indicates it works largely through neurological mechanisms, reducing pain sensitivity and supporting movement, rather than by correcting structure. This is why it can help even when imaging shows little change.

Manual therapy is a hands-on approach to assessing and treating musculoskeletal problems: pain, stiffness, restricted movement, and recurring strains. It uses techniques such as soft tissue work, joint mobilisation, neurodynamics, articulation, and progressive loading, combined with movement advice and pain education where relevant. The goal is to address the cause of the problem, not just the symptom.

Your first session lasts 60 minutes. It begins with a focused case history covering your symptoms, daily activities, and medical background. A physical assessment follows, including movement tests and, where relevant, orthopaedic and neurological screening. Hands-on treatment is then tailored to what the assessment shows. You leave with a clear plan and any exercises or self-care suggestions.

Loose, comfortable clothing that allows easy movement is ideal. Shorts and a t-shirt or vest top work well. Depending on the area being assessed, you may be asked to remove some clothing for accurate examination. Privacy and comfort are always respected, and a towel or gown is available if preferred.

Hands-on treatment can be uncomfortable at times, particularly with sensitive or long-standing conditions, but it is always within a level you find acceptable. You are in control throughout: I explain what I am doing, check in as I go, and adjust the approach based on your feedback. Most people find sessions far less daunting than they expected.

Many people notice a meaningful difference within the first 2 to 3 sessions, and many musculoskeletal complaints improve within 4 to 6 sessions, though this depends on how long the problem has been there and how your body responds. At the end of your first session I will give you an honest estimate and I will never recommend more treatment than you need.

Please give 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule and there is no charge. For cancellations with less than 24 hours notice the full session fee applies.
